I’m a guy now in my early 40’s with a pretty typical western upbringing.
I’m into a lot of the usual guy stuff – football, cars, fitness, music, socialising and sharing laughs, extreme sports, travel and adventures.
I love playing the guitar and was in a heavy metal band back in the day. We used to drive all the teachers crazy when we played at high school assemblies . . .
I also love dancing, which evolved from drunk bopping in nightclubs when I was younger to later learning proper partner dancing and getting some actual skillz.
I’m married to an amazing woman and we have two young daughters. All 3 special ladies make me smile every day :)
Professionally, one of my huge passions is to help others to grow and solve problems so they can create an amazing life for themselves.
Education and coaching are the key ways I do that, and I literally love every moment.
My Previous Education
I originally graduated university with degrees in engineering and science.
This gave me a very strong problem solving skillset and the ability to pull things apart and build new things from the ground up.
However, as I became interested in personal development, I soon found that I enjoyed solving human problems much more than technical ones.
As a result, I gravitated toward education and coaching as a way to help others by sharing my skills and knowledge.
Along the way, I became qualified to deliver nationally recognised education and training in Australia, and I got a bunch of certifications in fitness coaching.
Over the years, I’ve also done thousands of hours of my own study in personal development, psychology, emotional mastery, health, relationships, personal finance, business and success.
I’ve found this informal learning to be way more valuable (and more relevant to Porn Free Power) than any of the academic studies and formal qualifications I received.
My Previous Experience
My first work in education and coaching began in 2002. Since that time, I’ve done a bunch of different stuff like:
- Lecturing, tutoring and mentoring students at university.
- Teaching English (and sometimes maths) to classes and individuals as a volunteer in Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines.
- Delivering specialised small group training in a whole bunch of different subjects in Australia, the UK, Canada and Hong Kong.
- Writing course handbooks and other materials for colleges and private training organisations.
- Personal fitness training, nutrition and weight loss coaching with everyone from former Olympic athletes to housewives.
- Teaching modern jive dance lessons to large classes and private students in Australia and overseas.
- Privately tutoring high school and university students in study skills, professional skills and specific subjects (such as maths and writing).
- One-on-one coaching adults in successful relationships & communication, professional & career success and personal money management.
The Creation of Porn Free Power
Over the years, I’ve stopped many behaviours that I used to enjoy but which caused problems for me and held me back from the things I wanted in life.
The main ones have included drinking alcohol, eating/overeating junk food (and other unhealthy foods), and watching pornography.
I was surprised that completely giving up porn turned out to be much more difficult than I had originally expected.
I succeeded in becoming 100% porn free, and I still am to this day – but back then, I just kept getting drawn back to porn again and again even when I really didn’t want to use it any more.
This made me realise that there’s much more to staying porn free over the long term than simply deciding to stop watching it and then using willpower to try and resist temptations and old habits.
My failings led me to learn a lot about changing behaviours and breaking habits, and to try a bunch of things to figure out what worked for me.
Through all my research, I also discovered that porn addiction is a very common and rapidly growing problem, yet there is a lack of effective, organised resources and help available for quitting porn permanently.
All of these experiences and discoveries resulted in me starting Porn Free Power in 2014, and porn addiction help and support has been my main focus since then.
My Primary Focus: Helping People to Quit Porn For Good
These days, I work one-on-one with both men and women from all around the world – those with porn addiction themselves as well as their partners and family members.
Since starting Porn Free Power, I’ve done a lot of extra research and learning specifically in addictions, neuroscience and lasting behaviour change so I could understand these fields in depth.
Over time, I’ve brought together all of my coaching experience, research, learning and problem solving skills to create and develop specific tools, techniques and processes for quitting porn and overcoming porn addiction.
My most important creation is the Porn Free Formula, which is a step by step method that anyone can use to quit porn permanently. This has proven very successful over many years.
I share the Porn Free Formula with all of my personal clients, and I’m continuously refining and improving it over time through further research and real life testing to make it even better.
My Secondary Focus: Helping People to Save and Repair Their Relationships
In the process of helping men to quit porn, I also soon discovered that porn addiction often causes major problems in relationships.
In fact, when people who are in a relationship first contact me, this is the number one reason most of them tell me for wanting to quit porn.
Because I’ve had a strong interest in relationships and communication for a long time, I began working with some clients specifically as a relationship counsellor as well.
In doing this, I always focus once again on giving them specific practical tools and strategies for resolving issues caused by porn addiction, improving communication and restoring trust and intimacy.
