Following on from Part 1 explaining why website blockers won’t stop your porn addiction, here are some practicalities you should also consider:
Website Blockers Aren’t 100% Effective at Stopping Porn Access
This won’t surprise you: there is an absolute shitload of porn on the internet.
Website blockers are awesome at stopping access to all the obviously pornographic sites, but they’re not so hot at stopping access to porn in the less blatant places.
Spoiler alert: you know tumblr.com? One of the most popular websites in the entire world? By default, it’s not blocked by porn filters . . . yet it’s full of porn.
Same with popular video sites like dailymotion.com, metacafe.com or break.com. And as strict as YouTube is, you can even find some porn there if you know how.
(But this isn’t a prompt for you to go looking for it – I’m just telling you the reality here).
When you’re tempted, it really doesn’t matter if you can’t access 99.9% of porn on the web. If you can even find just one page with porn on it, that’s all you need for a damaging relapse.
Website Blockers Aren’t 100% Bulletproof
Although website blockers can be super difficult to bypass, they’re still not indestructible. There are entire websites dedicated to helping you get around internet filters, and some of their stuff actually works.
If you’re addicted to porn and you’re feeling that gripping urge to use it, it’s amazing the lengths you’ll go to just to get some.
Including doing whatever you can to bypass your website blocker.
Website Blockers Only Work on the Devices They’re Installed On
Let’s say website blockers do stop you from watching any porn on your computer and smart phone. High fives!
But wait . . . what will happen in future when you next get access to a device with no website blocker?
If you haven’t done anything to address your porn addiction at its core, you’re now all set for a huge binge to make up for all that porn you’ve been missing out on.
So, what are the chances you’ll never have access to a device without a porn blocker ever again?
Website Blockers Only Work on Internet Porn
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away . . . .
There was no internet. And in those days, folks got their porn fix using archaic objects like magazines and videos.
Well, guess what? Those things still exist! And not just in museums either.
So do memory sticks and hard drives full of porn that someone else downloaded off the internet.
And so does mental visualisation of nasty porn scenes, which can feed your porn addiction just as much as watching porn itself.
So if you happen to get hold of porn from anywhere besides directly from the internet, your website blocker ain’t got a thing to say about it.
Kinda leaves the back door wide open huh?
Conclusion
As you might know about me by now, I don’t tiptoe around, and I don’t do things by halves.
So I know I’ve really hammered the point in this article.
But I’ve done that because it’s such a common misconception that website blockers are the key to overcoming porn addiction.
It’s my job to point you in the right direction as soon as possible so you don’t waste any time.
Yes: porn website blockers are useful as one strategy in an overall plan for overcoming porn addiction.
No: porn website blockers won’t stop the porn addiction itself. They’ll just make it harder for you to act on it.
Meanwhile, if you do nothing to address your porn addiction, it will just keep bubbling away under the surface, ready to erupt as soon as you have access to porn again.
On the other hand, with the right personal changes to your psychology, mental and emotional state, behaviours and your life as a whole, you can crush porn addiction for good.
That’s exactly what I’m here to help you with.
So here’s my advice:
Take full responsibility for your porn addiction and commit to doing whatever it takes to smash it at its core.
Use a porn blocker as a tool to support you during your recovery, then get to work on yourself so you don’t even need it any more.
And if you really want to quit porn (the right way) as quickly as possible, I’m now available to help you personally and give you private access to techniques and secrets porn that you won’t find anywhere else.
