Let me tell you a story.
There once was a man who was really heavily into using porn. So heavily in fact, that he just couldn’t stop.
No matter how much porn he used, he always wanted more and more.
Every day and every week, he felt so strongly drawn to using porn that he simply couldn’t resist it. He was hooked.
Yet he knew it was costing him so much in life.
His emotions and self esteem were through the floor . . . his relationships were all suffering . . . his sex life was terrible . . . he had picked up some disturbing fetishes . . . his mind was a blur . . . and he was pissing his life down the drain.
So one day he made a stand.
He decided he was going to overcome porn addiction and kick all of those problems out of his life.
He resolved to quit porn from that day forth. He started getting help and learning how to do it. He started taking action.
He got all fired up and he hit the ground running . . . for a while . . .
Then, somewhere along the way, things started to get hard.
Quitting porn was more work than he first thought it would be.
The personal changes he needed to make seemed too overwhelming.
He just could never seem to find the time or motivation to take action.
Besides, he didn’t really believe those strategies would help him overcome porn addiction and that he could actually succeed anyway.
Meanwhile . . .
His mind was still full of pornographic thoughts and flashbacks.
He was constantly feeling super strong urges to experience the momentary pleasure that porn gave him.
He was also having a tough time in life and knew porn would help him escape reality, even just for a short time.
Plus, he’d started to get some porn withdrawal symptoms that really sucked.
So he stopped taking action to overcome porn addiction, and sank back into a life of regular porn use . . . along with all the problems that came with it.
Do you know this person?
Is he you?
I’m asking because I know that not everyone who sets out to overcome porn addiction actually takes it all the way to victory.
For some people, it feels too hard to move away from porn and much too easy to go back to it. So they give up doing anything about their porn addiction.
Just in case that is you and you’ve given up on quitting porn (or there’s even a chance that could happen in future), I’ve got some things to share with you.
Firstly . . .
I understand.
I’ve been through the process of giving up porn myself.
I know about the porn thoughts and flashbacks and urges and withdrawals.
I know it can be challenging.
I know it can be uncomfortable.
I know there can be painful setbacks.
I know there can be frustrations.
But I also know it’s all worth it.
Challenges, discomfort, setbacks, frustrations, porn thoughts, urges, relapses, withdrawals and everything else are all just part of the process.
I don’t care whether it’s overcoming addiction, or sculpting an awesome body, or making millions of dollars, or raising amazing kids, or learning to juggle 11 fire batons at once, awesome achievements rarely come without tough times and hard work.
But those things only make the rewards even sweeter when you do break through to the other side.
Remember, all the crap you may have to go through to overcome porn addiction is just temporary.
Your awesome new life is for life.
But don’t just take my word on how worthwhile this is. Think about it for yourself.
Imagine your life in 10 years’ time if you don’t quit porn and you continue on the same path of using it heavily.
And now imagine your life in 10 years’ time if you keep doing whatever it takes to quit porn and turn everything around right now.
Can you see the massive difference between the two?
So . . . which life do you want?
I thought so.
Even if you have stopped taking action to quit porn, don’t worry. You can put that in the past and start afresh right now by moving forward again from wherever you are.
So saddle up, get back on your horse and keep riding all the way into that glorious life ahead of you!
